Heraklion taxi provides private transfers from Heraklion airport to Bali Crete.

Bali is situated on a rugged part of the northern Cretan coastline, approximately half way between the cities of Heraklion and Rethymnon. Located about 2 kilometres from the main coast highway. It overlooks several pretty bays with beaches, and has the magnificent Mount Kouloukonas as its backdrop.

Bali was once a small fishing village, has now developed into a charming mass of colourful holiday properties. The resort consists of a number of small coves with sand and shingle beaches, a busy harbour, and a selection of good tavernas and bars. Most of the other buildings are a collection of small hotels and apartment blocks.

Bali today, combines the tradition of an old fishing village, with the range of facilities that modern day visitors have grown to expect. The main draw is of course the beaches, which are good, but can become very busy during the high season. For those wishing to venture further, it is possible book daytrips by boat to Rethymnon, Santorini, or the small island of  Gramvousa, also known as "pirate island".

Bali, situated on the site of ancient Astale, is set around a number of small coves. The first has a very small pebble beach backed by several tavernas and a hotel. The oldest part of the village is mostly located in the second cove, it is here where you will find most of the shops, hotels and tavernas, there is another beach, plus the harbour, which is home for both some traditional and modern boats. The next cove, known locally as Paradise Beach, is the most popular with swimmers.

On the whole, the resort attracts budget to mid-market tourists mainly from the younger age groups, plus families looking for a more relaxed holiday. Bali has proven popular with many nationalities, including the British, German, Dutch, Italian and French. Those thinking of visiting Bali should be aware that due to the hilly terrain, it may be unsuitable for anyone with severe walking difficulties.

There are a number of sightseeing possibilities in the area, including the Melidoni Cave located just outside of the village of the same name, the small traditional pottery works in the village of Margarites. and the mountain villages of Axos, Anogia and Fodele, which is one of a number of places claiming to be the birthplace of the famous painter El Greco. It is worth visiting the Atali Monastery, otherwise known as Bali Monastery, which lies some 5 kilometres to the south of Bali. Dedicated to Saint John, the monastery dates back to the 17th century, and boasts some magnificent views, also worth a visit, is the little church of Panaghia Charakiani, located at the eastern end of the cove.
